It seems like the more I shoot, the less I get around to posting. So instead of letting images sit sadly on my hard drive, I thought I’d do a little monthly post.
This was a busy month! We are huge fans of Autumn and Halloween, and try to pack as much into this month as possible.
First, we spent a rainy day driving a huge figure eight through the state of Vermont. Fog hung on the mountains the entire day and the sun didn’t shine once, but it was fantastic.

This is the Bread & Puppet Museum in northern Vermont, and yes, it is really that strange.

My husband’s new book was released October 5th, and I discreetly tried to grab a photo of him at a book signing. And bloody brains cocktails to celebrate, of course.

Our first trip to Topsfield Fair. Giant pumpkins, caramel apples, Autumn perfection.

A spontaneous visit to the Budweiser Clydesdales - they live in our town!

Next, our annual trip to Sleepy Hollow. Jason was doing a presentation/signing for The New York Grimpendium, and we spent the weekend there. It’s one of our favorite spots to be, especially in October. We showed Esme the Headless Horseman Bridge for the first time, got a behind-the-scenes (inside-the-mauseleum) tour of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, saw the Great Pumpkin Blaze, and visited with good friends.

Enjoying the last bit of warm weather, collecting leaves, and Esme’s first time in Boston’s Public Gardens.

The weekend before Halloween…Salem. Complete madness. I actually took one photo that day (of Esme in her balloon hat), but Jason got some great ones that are posted here.

We went for a quick drive out in Sandy. The trees swaying and creaking in the cemetery scared us back home where we should have stayed all along.

And lastly, Halloween! We decorated our hearts out this year. And after more than a few costume crises with Esme (this photo was the brief moment that she wanted to be a vampire if she could do her own make-up), she happily trick-or-treated as a cowgirl and had an incredible time.

So, that was our October! A lesson learned to let Esme be what she wants for Halloween from the start, and enough candy corn, hayrides, and scary movies to last until next year.
